I want my clients to succeed. Their goals and values form the foundation of every investment strategy – ultimately, their investment success is also my own. As a former CEO and board member, I fully appreciate the importance of strategy and governance in successful wealth management.

Managing family wealth often involves significant challenges, particularly when balancing wealth growth, the involvement of the next generation and the eventual transfer of wealth. Early involvement of the family has proved highly effective, for example through the establishment of an investment committee, which also serves as a regular forum for discussions within the family.

Clear objectives, well-defined responsibilities and structured oversight form the foundation of sound wealth management. As people grow older, however, maintaining these principles often becomes more demanding. Putting appropriate arrangements in place at an early stage strengthens personal autonomy and provides a reliable framework should unforeseen circumstances arise.

Education and professional career

After completing a banking apprenticeship, Heinrich Hugenschmidt began his career in client advisory. He subsequently studied at the University of St Gallen, where he completed a doctorate focusing on sustainable business, before being appointed Head of the UBS Sustainability Programme.

Within UBS Wealth Management, he played a key role in advancing digitalisation and served as Chief of Staff within UBS Financial Planning. At Credit Suisse, he advised high-net-worth private individuals and families. He also served as CEO and member of the Board of Directors of Credit Suisse Solution Partners AG, which advised wealthy families on wealth structuring.

Personal

Heinrich Hugenschmidt lives in the canton of Zurich with his wife and their son. In his spare time, he enjoys socialising, playing golf, cycling, skiing, spending time with his family and working on craft projects with his son. Whenever time permits, he also enjoys sailing on Lake Zurich.
